Women’s barrette boots made by Joseph Box; English, 1896. Glace kid (soft leather that stretches while maintaining its shape) & patent leather uppers; leather sole; lined in linen & silk.

Boots, made in Belgium, c.1895-1915. Leather with cotton twill lining & silk facing; metal grommets; leather sole. Orange laces. Marked size 38 (almost my size!) I hope someone had a good time wearing these :)

 ”The black-and-white colour combination probably represents half-mourning for Cara and Anne[Rogers]’s sister, Millicent, who died aged only 17 in 1890.”
